& I hope to see you at the next biology club meeting on the 25th of April!!
Biology Club hosted its LPC Alumni Guest Speaker Panel featuring guests Katera Johnson, Helen Nguyen, Daniel Nilson, and Steven Russo. The talk consisted of the panel’s successful stories of their transitions from a community college to a 4-year University environment as a biology major. There were many variations in the panel’s biology degrees and their valuable insights were greatly appreciated from the club members and other members.
Special Thanks to all those who participated, and the officers that were in charge to make this wonderful event happen!
This time for our 2nd bake sale club activity we added a twist and sold some coffee! There were many delicious home made goodies and cookies that were a smashing hit and made the tad bit chilly morning seem much less dreadful. A big shout out to the volunteers and Mr. Chris Southorn for this photo!
The latest club meeting was on the 22nd of february, and we talked about our potential hiking trip with Dr. Jim Hale sometime in March, an upcoming dodgeball tournament, potential bone marrow drive, the upcoming Sapolski talk, and many other bonding activities! There were some lovely new faces after club day which was wonderful.
Pics from the Hike (:
The next meeting will be on March 14 at 3:30pm in the club room! See you then (:
Photos from this month’s hiking trip to the pleasanton ridge and club day are now uploaded onto the photo link to the side. Check it —>
..on winning first place for the best table at club day! This is crazy amazing because it has only been a few months since the club has become official and we have already shown LPC how serious and passionate the biology club is towards sciences. Specials thanks to all those who helped set up the booth, volunteered, and club member Ms. Jane who brought the lovely decorations and the soap roots that was a big hit with the students!
There will be a club meeting this Wednesday in the club meeting room at 3:30! Hope you all have a great, well-deserved four day break!
Yesterday morning, many members of the biology club meet up early to go hiking at the Pleasanton Ridge. It was a lovely day to be outside with a moderately cool temperature, few clouds, and to be with some cool kids. We took many pictures, talked about our classes and enjoyed our small snacks. Although I ended up leaving a bit early, the club member came in contact with cows and, apparently, went cow chasing (picture to follow soon!).
It was unfortunate that all our members could not have attended but there will be many more upcoming opportunities for club bonding to look forward to! Hope to see many of you at the biology club this Wedsenday, 2/8/12, at the club room in the cafeteria area!
On Wednesday, January 25th, we had our first spring semester meeting. There were some lovely new faces and the club started off on the right foot immediately. We talked about potential upcoming events, ideas for fundraisers, custom shirts and club-bonding activities.
The closest bio-club related event will be the hiking and picnic trip at the Pleasanton Ridge (map) on February 4th. We plan to meet at the parking lot at 9:00am so we hope to get a great turnout! If you can’t make it, no worries, the next bio-club is on February 8th and we hope to see many more members!
